How does the daily loss limit work on evaluations?

Detailed explanation of daily loss calculation and reset on evaluations

The daily loss limit is the maximum amount your account may lose in a single day. If your equity touches or falls below the daily loss limit, your account will be terminated.

How It Works

The daily loss limit is recalculated once per day at 08:00 PM UTC based on your account balance at that time.

  • Calculated using balance

  • Enforced using equity

  • Remains fixed for the entire trading day

  • Open positions always count toward the limit

Daily Loss Percentages

  • Degen Mode: 2%

  • 1-Step Evaluation: 3%

Balance vs Equity

  • Balance = closed trades only

  • Equity = balance + open profit/loss

The daily loss limit uses your balance for calculation, but your equity for enforcement.

Example (1-Step Evaluation)

Starting balance: $100,000
Daily loss percentage: 3%

Time

Balance

Daily Loss Limit

Day 1 – 08:00 PM UTC

$100,000

$97,000

Day 2 – 08:00 PM UTC

$120,000

$116,400

Day 3 – 08:00 PM UTC

$118,000

$114,460

The daily loss limit does not move during the day, even if your balance or equity changes after the 08:00 PM UTC reset.

Note: Funded accounts use the same daily loss percentages as evaluations, but payouts reset the daily loss limit. For more details, see Daily Loss Limit (Funded Accounts).
